Meterkat

Terms of use (EULA)

Version 1.1, 23 October 2026.

These terms cover the Meterkat Android app and the hosted relay service at relay.meterkat.fdu.gg and meterkat-relay.fabian-duerkop.de (together "Meterkat"). They are provided by Fabian Dürkop ("the provider"; contact details in the imprint). By installing or using Meterkat you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not install or use it.

The desktop companion for Windows and Linux is open-source software under the MIT licence (github.com/Fade97/meterkat-companion). The MIT licence alone governs your rights to use, copy, modify and distribute the companion; nothing in these terms restricts them. If you use the companion, or any other client, with the hosted relay service, these terms apply to that use of the relay service.

  1. Free licence. Meterkat is free of charge. The provider grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Meterkat for private and professional purposes, on as many devices as you like.
  2. What you may not do. Unless mandatory law allows it, you may not:
    • redistribute, sell, rent or sublicense Meterkat or make it available for download elsewhere. Point others to the official source, Google Play;
    • modify, translate or create derivative works of Meterkat;
    • decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer Meterkat. This does not limit what the law expressly permits, in particular §§ 69d and 69e of the German Copyright Act (UrhG) for interoperability;
    • remove copyright notices, or misuse the relay service, for example by overloading it, bypassing its limits or using it for anything other than Meterkat.
  3. Open-source components. Meterkat contains third-party components under their own licences (shown in the app under About → Open-source licences). Those licences apply to those components and take precedence over these terms for them.
  4. Third-party services. Meterkat reads usage reports from tools of Anthropic, OpenAI and Google that you have installed and signed in to yourself. Their terms continue to apply. Meterkat is not affiliated with or endorsed by these companies.
  5. Relay service. The hosted relay is a free service without any guaranteed availability. The provider may change, limit or discontinue it at any time; data is deleted as described in the privacy policy. You can run Meterkat with your own relay instead.
  6. No warranty. Meterkat is provided "as is", free of charge. The provider does not warrant that it is error-free, that it runs without interruption, or that the displayed values are complete, correct or up to date. Do not rely on Meterkat for billing or business-critical decisions. Statutory rights for defects that the provider fraudulently concealed are unaffected.
  7. Liability. The provider is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. Otherwise, because Meterkat is provided free of charge, liability for slight negligence is excluded as far as the law permits.
  8. Privacy. Personal data is processed as described in the privacy policy.
  9. Updates and changes. The app updates through Google Play. The provider may change these terms for future versions; the version that came with your copy applies to it.
  10. Termination. You can stop using Meterkat at any time by uninstalling it. Your licence ends automatically if you breach these terms.
  11. Applicable law. German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live remain unaffected. If a provision is invalid, the rest remains in force.

In case of doubt, the German version prevails.
